A record number of 150 judges determined which restaurants made the list. The jury consisted of gastronomy professionals, food enthusiasts, restaurant owners, chefs, writers, and food critics.
The judges evaluated the restaurants based on the overall dining experience, mainly on the quality of the food, as well as the service, decor, and variety of wines available. Each judge had to vote for a minimum of three restaurants from outside their region.
Mon Lapin, from Montreal, was the top restaurant among the 100 ranked, while Edulis was Toronto’s best restaurant, ranking second overall.
Ottawa didn’t break into the top 10, but Riviera was the city’s best at number 28. River Café was Calgary’s top-ranked restaurant, at number 23.
In Vancouver, Published on Main ranked 7th among the city’s restaurants.
In Halifax, Bar Kismet restaurant ranked ninth.
